Roccaraso and the Abruzzo
The Hotel Le Ortensie is really close to the city center of Roccaraso, in the heart of the Major Uplands of the Abruzzo. This territory is included into the Majella National Park and the Abruzzo National Park and, more than Roccaraso, includes the villages of Pescocostanzo, Rivisondoli and Rocca Pia.
In this striking natural context, who loves mountain and nature will experience enchanting landscapes. The areas to be explored are so many, both in summer and in winter, and offers a lot of majestic paths to the cross-country and to the mountaineer skier, and a lot of paths for who loves indeed trekking and nordin walking.
It includes the Upland of the Cinquemiglia and that ones of Primo Campo, Quarto del Barone and Quarto Grande, that are smaller than the first one, and that extend themselves to Palena and the hermitage of Sant'Antonio. The highest peak is that one of the Monte Greco (2.285 meters), that overlook the Aremogna and Barrea; a lot of other peaks are more than 2.000 meters high.
As a whole, the our is a well conserved territory in a naturalistic sense, that offers breathtaking landscapes in summer and, in winter, turns into one of the most appreciated skiing resorts in the whole Center-South Italy, thanks to the infrastructures that allow to do winter sports. Do not forget the chance to do other sports. In summer, for instance, it is possible to do cycling, or horse riding, ice skating, bowling, golf... There are also a playground and an adventure-park, a field to do soft air, quad rental service, downhill and some pic-nic areas.

Parking
Your stay at the Hotel Le Ortensie starts in a peacefully way thanks to the wide parking area for free where to leave your car. It is a service available both in summer both in winter, when the service area is totally cleaned by the snow.
Playground
Your children will never be nervous at the Hotel Le Ortensie! We made, right in front of the hotel, a small playground with natural grass equipped with slides, swings and obstacles paths, that we increase year by year, for your children's joy!
Solarium
Get tanned on the mountains is less difficult than on the beach. At the Hotel Le Ortensie is even more easy, thanks to our solarium made in natural grass, where our Guests can relax at the sun warmth in June, July and August...
Outdoor pic nic
We thought to organize on Sundays, for groups of at least 10 interested persons, an outdoor day to enjoy the amazing landscapes of our protected areas and to enjoy the specialties of the Abruzzese typical cooking, made by our chef.
Downhill
To who loves Mountain Bike, we offer for free a climb with the chair lift, that allow them to ride some mountain paths and to enjoy breathtaking landscapes. The more experts will do downhill.
Bicycle rental service
Do you like mountain walks by bicycle? If you will stay at the Hotel Le Ortensie you can avoid to bring it with you, because we offer you for free the rental service of Mountain Bikes and City Bikes. You will always find them ready outdoor the Hotel to daily let you live unforgettable days.

In summer afternoons, in our garden, it will be possible to taste dinner aperitifs with sweet and salty snacks, made at the moment, and drink coctails, both alcoholic or not.

In summer it will be possible to taste in our garden our menu's dishes, served with a good glass of wine, or enjoy our excellent grilled meat.

Ski Room
Our hotel has a ski room where it is possible to place your sport equipment in total safety (all the lockers have combination locks) and keep it ready for the next day (it is also provided a heating service for boots).
Agreeded Ski rental service
All who wants to enjoy for the first time to do skiing or just wants to test every year new equipments, will really appreciate our ski and boots rental service with agreeded shops, at very favorable rates.
Ski Bus
Are you on holiday and want to totally forget your car? The Hotel Le Ortensie offers its Guests, in winter, a shuttle service from the hotel to the skiing slopes in Monte Pratello. In few minutes one will be on the ski slopes.
Lunch on the slopes
If at lunch you want to taste the specialties of the typical abruzzese cooking, we can offer you an agreement with "a Baita" on the Pizzalto/Aremogna, where one not only will eat really good but also enjoy an amazing panorama.
Agreeded Ski School
If you will book from Mondays to Fridays, in winter, we will offer you a favorable agreement with a ski school. You could enhance your tecnique during your holidays!
Ski pass for free
For each paying adult the full ski pass, a child under 12 years of age, and belonging to the same family (parent-child), is entitled to the free ski pass. To take advantage of the convention it is necessary to show the family status.
